ANGELO GAFÀ

Mr Gafà joined the Malta Police Force as a Police Inspector in 2004. He was assigned investigative and prosecution duties within the Police Economic Crimes Squad, where he served until June 2013. Between June 2013 and December 2016, he served within the Malta Security Service, including as Assistant Head of the organisation.

Following a public call, Mr Gafà was appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Police Force in December 2016. In 2018, he was promoted to the rank of Police Superintendent. Following a further public call, he was appointed Commissioner of Police in 2020, a position he continues to occupy.

Prior to joining the Malta Police Force, Mr Gafà served as a Second Lieutenant in the Armed Forces of Malta. He placed first on entry intake for both the Armed Forces of Malta and the Malta Police Force.

Mr Gafà holds a First Class Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Private and Public Sector Management from the University of Malta (2001). He also holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy Leadership (Distinction) from the University of Malta (2008), and a Master of Science in Security and Risk Management (Merit) from the University of Leicester (2014). He is a visiting lecturer within the Department of Criminology, Faculty for Social Wellbeing, University of Malta.
