A 16-year-old youth was arrested by the Police in connection with an investigation into alleged drug trafficking.
He was stopped after the Police noticed him driving a vehicle and after parking, he got out of it and left on foot. As soon as he was approached by the Police, he tried to escape, but was immediately arrested.
A search of the suspect and the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 12 sachets of substance allegedly cannabis, a grinder with traces allegedly of more cannabis, 5 sachets of substance allegedly cocaine, as well as around €700 in cash.
A search was then carried out at the residence where he lives and from there the police found more substance suspected to be cocaine, an electronic weighing scales with traces of illicit substance and a number of small bags.
He is currently being held at the police lock-up in Floriana and is expected to be arraigned in court later today
