Young woman suffers serious injuries in traffic accident

Early yesterday morning, at around 3:45 a.m., the Police were informed of a traffic accident in Triq l-Imġarr, Għajnsielem, Gozo.

Police officers immediately went to the scene, and from initial investigations it resulted that a BMW 118D, driven by a 22-year-old woman from Qala, had crashed into a pole. In the vehicle there was also a 23-year-old woman from Għajnsielem and a 21-year-old man from Sannat.

A medical team was called to the scene, and an ambulance took the passengers to the Gozo General Hospital, while the driver was taken later due to being in shock. Later, the Police were informed that the young man was uninjured, and the 23-year-old woman was in stable condition.

However, later in the day, at around 6:00 p.m., the Police were informed that the condition of the young woman had changed and she was certified to be suffering from serious injuries.

Magistrate Dr Brigitte Sultana LL.D was informed of the case and appointed a magisterial inquiry, while Police investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
