Young Girl Suffers Grievous Injuries in Traffic Accident

Yesterday evening, at around 11:00 p.m. (2300 hrs), the Police were informed that their assistance was needed in Triq il-Manikata, Mellieħa.

Police officers immediately went to the scene, where it was established that a Suzuki Swift, driven by a 28-year-old woman from Santa Venera, had collided with a utility pole and ended up in the opposite lane.

As a consequence, the Suzuki then collided with a bus driven by a 48-year-old man from St Paul’s Bay and a Mercedes Sprinter van driven by a 33-year-old man, also from St Paul’s Bay.

A medical team was called to the scene and provided assistance to the woman, as well as to a four-year-old girl who was a passenger in the vehicle with her. They were taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where the girl was later certified as having suffered grievous injuries, while the woman was found not to have sustained any injuries.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
