Woman arrested after being found in possession of 15kg drugs

A 27-year-old Greek woman was arrested on arrival at Malta International Airport following the discovery of packets of drugs found in her suitcase.

Customs officers carried out inspections of passengers who on Saturday evening arrived on a flight which started in Madrid, Spain and arrived in Malta after a connection in Frankfurt, Germany. Police assistance was immediately sought and in a search of the woman’s suitcase, packages containing 15 kg of substances suspected to be cannabis grass were found.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia LL.D was informed and appointed an inquiry.

Later today, at around two and a half hours in the afternoon, the woman will be arraigned in Court before Magistrate Dr Abigail Critien LL.D.
