The Malta Police force successfully carried out two return operations during this week, through which two third-country nationals were returned to their countries of origin.
One of these individuals had already served a prison sentence after being found guilty in connection with an attempted murder of a man at the Ħal far open Centre in 2016.
The second individual had been found guilty of using a falsified passport. After all necessary procedures had been exhausted, he was also returned to his country of origin.
In both cases, entry bans were issued prohibiting these individuals from re-entering the Schengen area. With these two operations, the total number of persons who were deported from Malta during this year has gone up to 19.
The message is clear: Malta welcomes those who respect its laws, but will not tolerate illegality, crime or abuse of the system.
