Two men arrested in Hamrun

Police investigations into the ongoing fight against drug trafficking led to the arrest of two men in Hamrun early this morning.

Following information that the two suspects, aged 31, resident in Cospicua and 26, resident in Valletta, were frequenting the area of Triq Manuel Magri, Hamrun where drug trafficking was allegedly taking place, the Police initiated an on-site surveillance operation.

This morning, at around seven in the morning (0700 hrs), the Police noted the two suspects arriving on site separetly with a car and a motorcycle. They were immediately stopped and searched, where they were found in possession of more than a hundred sachets, allegedly cocaine.

While a search was carried out at an apartment belonging to one of the suspects where documents were seized, a search was also carried out at an apartment in Mosta which is also frequented by one of the men and more sachets suspected to be cocaine and heroin were seized, as well as around €20,000 in cash.

While Police investigations are ongoing, Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D is conducting an inquiry.
