Two men arrested in connection with thefts from lotto banks

This press release is being communicated as an update to Press release PR 91/25 issued on 18 February 2025 and to Press release PR 92/25 issued on 19 February 2025.

Intensive investigations in connection with the two thefts which took place on Tuesday evening at lotto booths in Birkirkara and Burmarrad led to the arrest of two men who were allegedly involved in the two thefts.

It resulted from investigations that one of the men, who was identified as a Serbian, allegedly entered the two lotto booths armed with a knife and carried out the theft, while the other man, who was identified as a Syrian, was waiting outside in a van.

After the van was identified, the search continued for the two persons where the vehicle was found parked outside a St Paul’s Bay residence, which led to the arrest of the Syrian in St Paul’s Bay and the arrest of the Serbian from a Mosta residence.

While the two persons are being detained at the Police lock-up, Floriana for further investigations, Police investigations as well as the Magisterial Inquiry are still ongoing.
