Two Men Arrested in Connection with Drug Trafficking

Further surveillance operations targeting alleged drug trafficking led to the arrest of a 56-year-old man from Għaxaq and a 46-year-old man from Victoria, Gozo. The men were found in possession of various types of drugs and firearms.

Earlier today, the two men were stopped by the Police in Paola while travelling in a Ford Ranger. A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 5 kilograms of suspected cannabis, as well as a loaded firearm.

Police then carried out searches at a residence in Ħamrun, where officers discovered approximately 4 additional kilograms of a substance suspected to be cannabis, 3 kilograms of suspected cocaine, an amount of cash, and an industrial press used for packaging drugs.

A further search was conducted at a residence in Għaxaq, where an amount of suspected heroin and another firearm were seized.

A Magisterial Inquiry led by Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D. has been opened, while Police investigations are ongoing. The two men are currently being held at the Floriana Police lock-up.
