Two British nationals arrested at airport

Two British nationals, a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, were arrested at the airport on Wednesday night after allegedly being found in possession of drugs for trafficking.

At around 2300hrs, the Police received an anonymous report regarding a man and a woman who were allegedly selling drugs in the airport’s departure lounge. Following a description of the individuals, police officers immediately carried out a search of the area. The two suspects were located shortly afterwards on the lower level of the airport and arrested.

An analysis of security camera footage subsequently revealed that the pair had been using a vehicle parked in the airport car park. A search of the vehicle was carried out, during which police found four sachets containing a substance suspected to be cocaine, two sachets containing suspected cannabis, seven pills suspected to be ecstasy, 54 canisters of nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas”, and approximately €1,000 in cash.

The two individuals are currently being held at the Police GHQ lock-up and are expected to be arraigned in Court later today.
