Two arrested in connection with Paola mugging

Intensive investigations in connection with a mugging which took place a few days ago on a woman, led to the Police identifying and arresting the suspects, two men aged 37 and 35 years respectively, both from Qormi in recent hours.

It was on the 11 December, when at around 0800hrs, the Police were informed that there is a woman on the ground with some injuries in a parking lot in the vicinity of the Addolorata Cemetery, in Paola.

The Police went immediately on site and from investigations it resulted that the victim, a 43-year-old woman, was walking in those areas, and a man wearing a mask, attacked her from behind and took her bag containing a mobile phone and an amount of cash. Afterwards, the man got into a car which was waiting for him, where another person was inside and fled the scene.

The woman was taken to the Paola Health Centre for treatment, where she was certified to have been slightly injured.

After intensive investigations and analysing several CCTV footages, Police identified both suspects, who are expected to be arraigned in Court later today.
