Two arrested in connection with illegal substances find

Two separate investigations in connection with the importation of drugs and other illegal substances led to the arrest of two men.

In the first case, a 25-year-old man from Bosnia and Herzegovina, was arrested upon arrival at Malta International Airport. During routine searches being carried out on different passengers, the man, who had just arrived in Malta on a flight from Barcelona, appeared to act suspiciously.

Therefore, following a search in his suitcase, with the assistance of Customs Department officials, seven packets containing around 8 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis were found.

In another investigation, a 33-year-old man from Jordan was arrested after investigations revealed that he allegedly changed a residence in a place to manufacture an illegal substance of GHB and another synthetic drug.

This resulted after earlier the Police confiscated a suspicious package which arrived by post, addressed the man at the Mgarr residence. At the same residence the Police also found a number of packets containing a white substance, allegedly cocaine.

The two men are expected to be arraigned later today.
