Traffic inspections

(PR 115/25)

Routine traffic inspections, aimed at ensuring road safety, continued throughout the weekend in anticipation of the expected increase in vehicle traffic, particularly towards Gozo, due to Carnival.

Over the last three days, during these roadchecks carried out both in the area of Ghadira Bay and in Gozo, some 600 vehicles were stopped where they were inspected for irregularities.

While the absolute majority of drivers complied with the law, the Police issued 37 fined for drivers who were caught driving without a valid driving licence, use of a mobile phone, as well as vehicles which did not have a licence attached to the windscreen. 8 criminal charges were also issued.

Inspections were also carried out in relation to speeding where 20 fines were issued.

These routine inspections will continue over the coming days and weeks.
