Four persons arrested in connection with house thefts
Intensive investigations in connection with the theft of a substantial amount of valuable items which took place a few days ago from various residential homes led to the Police identifying two separate groups allegedly involved in these thefts in recent hours.
 
The arrested persons are four men, two Maltese and two Colombians. The first arrests were made yesterday at about noon, where the Police surrounded the two Colombians, aged 26 and 23, in St Paul’s Bay. They were the main suspects in a robbery from a residence in Swieqi.
 
Earlier today, both Colombians were arraigned in Court before Magistrate Dr Abigail Critien LL. D, pleading not guilty to the charges brought against them and continued to be detained under preventive arrest at the correct Corradino facility.
 
Meanwhile, later on yesterday, at around 6pm a quarter of the evening, the two Maltese were arrested in Żejtun. He is suspected of having carried out several thefts from homes in Santa Lucija, Zabbar, Xgħajra, Kalkara and Tarxien.
 
The two Maltese, aged 51 and 41, are expected to be arraigned in Court in the coming days.
 
Police investigations are ongoing.
