Traffic accident in Ħal Luqa

Today, at around half past midday (1230hrs), the Police were informed of a traffic accident in Triq San Tumas, Ħal Luqa.

The Police immediately went on site, and from preliminary investigations it resulted that a collision had occurred between a DAF 85 driven by a 40-year-old man from Ħal Qormi and a Toyota Yaris driven by a 37-year-old woman from Żurrieq.

In the Toyota there was also a 70-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman, both also residing in Żurrieq.

A medical team was called to the scene to assist, and ambulances took all the persons who were in the Toyota to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

Later, the 71-year-old woman was certified as having suffered serious injuries, the 70-year-old man was certified as having sustained slight injuries, while the driver was uninjured.

Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry.

Police investigations regarding this incident are still ongoing.
