Early this morning, at around 0030 hrs, the Police were informed of a traffic accident in Tal-Barrani Road, Tarxien.
Preliminary investigations showed that a collision occurred between a BMW 120 driven by a 24-year-old man from Nadur and a Mercedes E-class driven by a 21-year-old man from Marsascala.
The Mercedes then crashed into the Peugeot 208 which was stationary and in which there were two Transport Malta officials, aged 38 and 28. As a result of the impact, the vehicle crashed into a Ford Transit which was also stationary.
A medical team was called on site and an ambulance took the two Transport Malta officers, who were on duty at the time, to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.
The 38-year-old was later certified to have sustained grievous injuries and the other man suffered slight injuries.
Police investigations into this case are ongoing.
