Three arrested for drug trafficking

(PR 580/25)

Police work continues in the fight against drug trafficking.

After the Police carried out surveillance in recent days on two men and a woman, who allegedly were operating a drug trafficking ring, they were arrested on Friday morning.

In a raid carried out by the Police at a residence in San Ġwann, from which drugs were allegedly being prepared, the Police arrested a 40-year-old man. A search on site led to the discovery of around 300 grams of cocaine, distributed in various small packages showing that they were being prepared for sale, as well as other items related to drug preparation in order to be trafficked. The value of the drugs found amounts to just over €20,000.

Meanwhile, a few days earlier, a 41-year-old woman who was arrested in Marsa came out of the same residence.

At the same time, the Police arrested another 32-year-old man in Cospicua who, from investigations carried out, allegedly was distributing drugs which were prepared in San Ġwann. A search was carried out at his residence in Valletta where some €6,000 in cash was found, as well as a number of jewellery items.

Another search was carried out at a garage in San Ġwann, where the Police seized two vehicles – Mercedes and Porsche Cayenne – as part of investigations.

Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea LL. D was informed of the case and is conducting an inquiry.

The three persons are expected to be arraigned in Court today at around 1130hrs in front of Magistrate Dr Nadine Sant Lia LL.D.
