Three arrested at St Julian's

(PR 65/25)

A 24-year-old man from Marsascala, and two 28-year-old and 27-year-old men from Zabbar, are being detained following an argument in St Julian’s earlier this morning. During the arrest, three Police officers were slightly injured.

At around 0430hrs, the Police were informed that assistance was needed in Dragunara Street.

The Police went immediately on site and found a group of people with glass bottles in their hands. While the Police were calming the situation, the 24-year-old man allegedly approached the Police aggressively with a smashed bottle and was therefore constrained to use a taser gun. At the same time, the 28-year-old man assaulted another Police officer.

A medical team assisted the persons involved and were taken to Mater Dei Hospital by an ambulance for further treatment.

Later, the 28-year-old was certified to have sustained grievous injuries as a result of his argument with the other men, while the other two men were not injured.

Police investigations are ongoing. The three men are expected to be arraigned in Court in the coming days.
