It was at around 2000hrs, when the Police were informed that their assistance was needed in 8 September Avenue, Xaghra, as a person, allegedly armed with a firearm, entered a grocery store.

Preliminary investigations showed that the alleged thief went on site with a car, entered the shop, pointed the weapon in the direction of the cashier, grabbed the cash drawer and then fled the scene with an amount of cash with the same vehicle, in which there were probably accomplices. It resulted from further investigations that this car had been stolen some time before from Xewkija.

No one was injured in this case, with the Police carrying out investigations and a search for the other person who was allegedly involved in the robbery. Magistrate Dr Simone Grech LL. D was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry.
