Three persons were arrested by Police in connection with a series of thefts, known as “snatch”and grab of jewellery from persons in entertainment establishments in Ta ‘Qali.
Police were informed of various cases of jewellery theft which occurred during the night between the 28 and the 29 August 2026, with the value of the thefts exceeding €17,000.
From investigations that were made, including security video analysis, it resulted that the cases were organised and coordinated by the same three persons. Apparently, while dancing with people, they grasp and pull necklaces from the victims’ necks and flee through the crowd.
From investigations carried out, the Police managed to identify the three suspects. This led to their arrest at a Birżebbuġa residence. During searches carried out at the residence, some of the necklaces reported stolen were found.
The three persons – 45, 32 and 20-year-old Italians – are being detained under arrest while further investigations are ongoing.
The arrested persons are expected to be arraigned in Court today at around 1400hrs infront of Magistrate Dr Lara Lanfranco LL.D.
