In Malta, the renewal of a club license is governed by the Clubs Act (Chapter 10 of the Laws of Malta) and its subsidiary legislation, notably Subsidiary Legislation 10.21 – Registration Of Clubs Regulations. Under these provisions, clubs are required to submit their license renewal applications and comply with specific requirements to continue operating legally.
Online Form Submission
The renewal application must be completed through the online form provided below. The club and the previous year’s club secretary will receive a notification letter, either by post or email, instructing them to renew their club license. It is essential that all information is entered correctly.
Application Deadline
Under Regulation 7 of Subsidiary Legislation 10.21, applications for renewal must be submitted no later than January 15 of each the following year.
Special Provisions For Government Employees
If the club secretary is a government employee, an automated email will be sent following the completion of the online form. The email will request a Declaration of No Objection from the secretary’s employer, which must be submitted as an attachment in response to the previously mentioned automated email.
Fees
To renew the license, a fee is required. After submitting the application, the applicant will receive an automated email with details of the submission. This email will also include any additional documents needed if changes have been made to the statute, as well as the declaration letter from the employer mentioned earlier.
Once the application has been reviewed and approved by the Superintendent of Police overseeing the area where the club operates, the secretary will receive a subsequent approval notification by email. This will instruct them to visit the local police station to pay the required fee and sign a declaration confirming the accuracy of the information submitted in the online application.
All fees for the upcoming year, as well as any outstanding payments, must be settled within 30 days of receiving the confirmation email. This email will confirm that the license has been processed and is available for collection at the Police Office.
Failure to pay the fee and collect the renewed license within this 30-day period will result in the automatic termination of the application.
