Press Release by the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment together with the Police

On Monday morning, the Malta Police were informed that schools across the country had received a bomb threat via an identical email sent to State schools as well as Church and Independent schools.

Investigations were immediately initiated by the Cyber Crime Unit within the Police Force, and a joint effort began between the Police, the Armed Forces of Malta, and the Ministry for Education to ensure the safety of everyone in these schools.

Following an assessment and consultation with law enforcement and the relevant authorities, it was determined that the threat was not specific. However, all necessary actions were taken to ensure the safety of students and staff. Lessons eventually resumed in the schools.

The Ministry for Education will continue to monitor the situation, while law enforcement authorities will proceed with their investigations.
