Police continue enforcement in connection with traffic irregularities

Yesterday evening, the Police continued with patrols and continuous inspections in the Ta ‘Qali and Rabat areas, in connection with traffic irregularities and reports of dangerous driving.

During these inspections, the Police noted two drivers, aged 25 and 26, who were carrying out dangerous manoeuvres and drifting in a public car park in Ta ‘Qali, putting themselves and other persons at risk. The two vehicles were stopped and the drivers were informed that charges would be issued against them.

Later on, during a patrol in Rabat, the Police noticed a vehicle being driven at an excessive speed. The vehicle was followed by the Police, where the driver continued to drive excessively in excess of 160 km/hr and started ignoring various traffic regulations and creating a danger on the road.

The vehicle was eventually stopped in Siggiewi, where the driver, a 21-year-old youth, was identified. During an inspection of the vehicle, apart from a number of irregularities, the Police also found an illegal emergency siren installed in the vehicle. The driver was informed that charges will be issued against him and the vehicle was confiscated by the Police.

The Police recall that dangerous driving not only breaches the law – but also puts lives at risk. Police inspections will continue, leading to more results, as also communicated in the statement published on Monday in PR 23/26.
