More success by Police in their fight against drug trafficking

The continuous efforts of the Police against drug trafficking led to the arrest of four persons last weekend.
 
A 28-year-old Somali national, resident of Gzira, has been arrested by the Police after approaching undercover officers in the area of an entertainment establishment in Paceville to try and sell drugs to them. From a search carried out on him, it was found that he was in possession of packets containing a substance suspected as being cannabis.
 
He was arraigned in Court and charged with drug trafficking, aggravated possession and recedivism, as he had been found guilty of similar charges. He admitted to the charges and was sentenced to 18 months in prison together with a fine.
 
The Police also arrested a 23-year-old Somali national,  resident of Birzebbugia and a 24-year-old Algerian national, resident of Birkirkara, who were stopped in St Julian’s and were found in possession of a substance suspected to be cannabis.
 
During another patrol in Paola, a 19-year-old man from Mqabba was stopped and a search in his vehicle revealed that he was in possession of a package of suspected cocaine.
 
The Police force reiterates its commitment to further and continuous efforts against drug trafficking.
