Man wanted in connection with armed robbery in St Paul's Bay extradited from Italy

(PR 373/25)

Intensive investigations in connection with an armed robbery last year led to the identification of the person who was allegedly involved in the case and who had fled Malta.

Through a European arrest Warrant, an Italian man was arrested in Italy and immediately proceeded to be extradited to Malta. In fact, late on Tuesday night, the man was brought to Malta under arrest from Rome, escorted by three Maltese Police officers.

The Italian was wanted in connection with a theft which took place on the 16 January 2024. On that day, at around ten and a half in the evening (2230 hrs), a man entered a gaming shop in Triq iċ-Ċern, St Paul’s Bay, allegedly armed with a knife. He fled the scene after stealing an amount of cash.

The Italian will be arraigned in Court today, at around half past ten in the morning (1030 hrs), before Magistrate Dr Claire Stafrace Zammit LL.D, and charged with his involvement in the robbery.
