A 20-year-old English man residing in Naxxar suffered serious injuries in a traffic accident that occurred last night in Hal Lija.
Police were informed at around 7:00 PM that a collision had occurred on Mosta Street.
The initial investigation revealed that the incident occurred between a Volkswagen Golf driven by the 20-year-old man and a Hyundai i20 driven by a 39-year-old man from Luxembourg. A 41-year-old woman was also a passenger in the Hyundai.
The driver of the Volkswagen had to be extricated from the vehicle with the assistance of members of the Civil Protection Department and a medical team. He was later taken to the hospital by ambulance, where he was certified to have suffered serious injuries.
Magistrate Dr. Monica Borg Galea, LL.D, was informed of the incident and has opened an inquiry, while police investigations are still ongoing.
