Man seriously injured in Mġarr

(PR 432/25) 

Today, at around noon (1200 hrs), the Police were informed that assistance was needed because a man had fallen in the area of the Santa Marija cave near Riviera Bay, limits of Mġarr.

The Police went immediately on site and requested the assistance of the Armed Forces of Malta, as well as a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital and members of the Civil Protection.

A patrol boat and a helicopter were sent to the scene, the rescue operation started and the man, an 18-year-old man from France was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment. He was later certified to have been seriously injured.

Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea LL. D was informed of the case and opened a Magisterial Inquiry.

Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
