Yesterday, at around 1815hrs, the Police were informed that their assistance was needed at a beach in Għajn Tuffieħa.
The Police went immediately on site and from initial investigations, it resulted that a 17-year-old man from the Duminican Republic had jumped into the sea and hit his head. Some people who were nearby gave first aid and brought the man out of the sea.
A medical team arrived on site and he was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by an ambulance. He was later certified to be in a serious condition.
The Magistrate was informed about the case and appointed an inquiry while Police investigations are ongoing.
