Today, at about 1545hrs, the Police were informed of an accident at a construction site in Triq il-Farkizzan, Mosta.
From initial investigations it appears that a 33-year-old man from Bangladesh, who lives in Hamrun, fell into the lift shaft while carrying out works, a height of around three storeys.
Members of the Civil Protection Department and a medical team were called on site to assist and an ambulance took him to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment, where he was certified to have suffered serious injuries.
Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL. D was informed and appointed an inquiry.
Investigations by the Police, together with the Occupational Health and Safety Authority and the Building and Construction Authority are ongoing.
