Man loses his life while swimming in Gozo

Today, at around 1:30 p.m. (1330hrs), the Police were informed of an incident that occurred at Ramla l-Ħamra Bay, Xagħra, Gozo.

Initial investigations showed that a 43-year-old Polish man found himself in difficulty while swimming.

He was given first aid on site by lifeguards from the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps (ERRC) as well as by a medical team from the Gozo General Hospital, but unfortunately, he was certified dead a short while later.

Magistrate Dr Brigitte Sultana LL.D was informed of the case and appointed a Magisterial Inquiry, while Police investigations into the case are still ongoing.
