Man injured in sea accident
 
Yesterday, at around quarter past three in the afternoon (1515 hrs), the Police were informed that their assistance was needed at Mġarr Seafront, Gozo.
 
The Police went immediately on site and from initial investigations it resulted that a 35-year-old man, a resident of Mellieħa, found himself in difficulty while he was on his boat and overturned. Persons who were nearby gave him first aid and brought the man out of the sea.
 
He was brought into the quay in Mġarr by members of the Armed Forces of Malta and after being taken to Gozo General Hospital by ambulance, he was transferred to Mater Hospital where he was certified to have sustained grievous injuries.
 
Magistrate Dr Monica Vella LL. D was informed of the case and opened a Magisterial Inquiry.
 
Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
