Man Grievously Injured in Cospicua

Earlier today, at around 11:30 a.m. (1130 hrs), the Police were informed that assistance was needed in Hanover Street, Cospicua (Bormla), after a person had sustained injuries.

Police officers immediately went to the scene and found that the victim, a 49-year-old man residing in St. Paul’s Bay, had been struck by a Peugeot car, whose driver fled the scene in the vehicle.

The victim was given medical assistance by a medical team and was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was certified as having suffered grievous injuries.

Intensive police investigations led to the vehicle involved being located a short time later in St. George Street, Cospicua, and the alleged driver, a 37-year-old man residing in Cospicua, was arrested.

Police investigations into the case are still ongoing in order to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
