Man grievously hurt after being attacked by own dog

Today, at around 1000hrs, the Police were informed that their assistance was needed in Triq il-Frejgatina, St Paul’s Bay.

The Police went immediately on site and preliminary investigations showed that a man was grievously injured after he went to disperse two of his dogs which they attacked each other.

One of these dogs, after attacking his owner, fled the scene. As this dog was considered very dangerous towards other persons, Police assistance was requested, and due to the urgency of the situation, the Police were constrained to shoot it.

A medical team was called on site and the man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

Assistance from the Animal Welfare Directorate was also requested.

Police investigations are ongoing.
