Man dies in St Julian's

(PR 194/25) 

A 76-year-old Irishman, unfortunately, lost his life after finding himself in difficulty while swimming.

Yesterday, at around twenty minutes to one in the afternoon (1240 hrs), Police were informed that assistance was needed at Xatt is-Sajjieda in St Julian’s.

The Police immediately went to the scene where they noticed the person at sea and requested the assistance of members of the Civil Protection and the Armed Forces of Malta. The man was brought ashore soon after and was assisted by a medical team. Unfortunately he was certified dead shortly afterwards.

Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL. D was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry, while the Police are investigating the case.
