Man detained after killing a protected bird

(PR 519/24) 

On Friday at around 0900hrs, the Police received a report that in a field in Marsaxlokk, a person allegedly shot and killed a protected bird.

Police officers immediately went on site and detained a 42-year-old man who was in the possession of a dead Grey Heron.

Investigations continued at the man’s residence in Zabbar, where other hunting items were confiscated, including other protected birds, a shotgun, ammunition and bird callers.

Police investigations into this case are ongoing.
