Man arrested in connection with attempted theft in Gozo

(PR 686/24)

Police investigations led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man, in connection with an attempted robbery at the Gozo Cathedral.

On Wednesday, at around 0500hrs, the Police were informed that their assistance was needed in Mdina Gate Street, Victoria, Gozo.

The Police went immediately on site and from investigations it resulted that two hooded persons tried to force open a door and enter the Cathedral but did not manage because at that point a security officer passed by, and as soon as they saw him they fled the scene.

Investigations and searches for the persons involved immediately started, which led to the identification of the man, who lives in Zebbug, Gozo, with the Police arresting him yesterday morning.

While Police investigations are ongoing, the suspect is expected to be arraigned in the Gozo Court, today, at around 1630hrs, before Magistrate Dr Brigitte Sultana LL.D.
