Investigations and relentless surveillance by the Police in connection with a criminal ring involving drug trafficking led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Italian national.
During this surveillance carried out last night, officers saw the suspect making contact with another individual in the Msida Waterfront area. Soon after, the suspect was intercepted while driving a Skoda vehicle and subsequently arrested.
A search led to the discovery of a packet containing a pink substance suspected to be pink cocaine. Further searches carried out at the suspect’s Swieqi residence resulted in the discovery of additional quantities of the same substance, an amount of cannabis grass, and various items allegedly associated with drug trafficking.
He is being held at the Police lock-up in Floriana and is expected to be arraigned in Court later today, while police investigations are ongoing.
