An intensive investigation led to the arrest on Wednesday of five persons – four Maltese men and one woman – who allegedly form part of an organised criminal group of drug trafficking.

The arrests were made during searches at four different properties at the same time, in Għaxaq, Vittoriosa and Żabbar.

The Police seized around 140 packets of suspected synthetic cannabis, around 30 packets of suspected cocaine and three other packets of alleged cannabis. A large amount of luxury clothing and electronic items, as well as jewellery and around €2,000 in cash, were also seized from the residence in Għaxaq.
