Drug bust

(PR 546/25)

A 44-year-old man, a resident of Valletta, was arrested on Thursday after he was found in possession of a considerable amount of sachets containing substances suspected to be cocaine and heroin, allegedly for trafficking purposes, with a street value of 14,000 euro.

Following days of investigations, the Police noticed the man driving a vehicle in Marsa. He was stopped immediately, however when he spotted by the Police, he was seen throwing a bag from his car.

Due to reasonable suspicion, a search was carried out on him and his car, where 210 sachets containing drugs suspected to be cocaine and 69 sachets containing drugs suspected to be heroin were found, as well as an amount of cash.

A magisterial inquiry has been opened in connection with this case, while the man is being detained at the Police lock-up in Floriana. He is expected to be arraigned in Court today at around 11am (1100 hrs) before Magistrate Dr Victor Axiak LL.D.
