Corpse of man found in sea near Comino

(PR 205/25) 

At around 1245hrs, the Police were informed that a person was spotted face down in the sea near Comino.

Based on this information, the Police called for the assistance of the Armed Forces of Malta, who responded promptly, found a man who appeared to be unconscious, brought him ashore at Mgarr Harbour, Gozo, but tragically, but unfortunately he was certified dead.

Further investigations identified the individual as a 71-year-old man from Xewkija, Gozo, who had been fishing earlier.

Magistrate Dr Brigitte Sultana LL.D was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry, while Police investigations are ongoing to establish the dynamics of the case.
