Boy dies in swimming pool

(PR 312/25)

Yesterday, at around half past five in the afternoon (1730 hrs), the Police were informed that assistance was needed in Triq San Ġwann, Naxxar.

The Police went immediately on site where preliminary investigations showed that a 6-year-old boy, while with relatives in fields in the area, wandered around and distanced himself from them. As soon as they realised this, they went to search for him and promptly informed the Police.

Various Police sections were informed and searches started in the surrounding area. After some time, using a police drone, the boy was seen unconscious in a pool at a nearby residence. He was given first aid by Police officers themselves, with a medical team assisting shortly afterwards.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital but unfortunately later he died.

Magistrate Joe Mifsud LL.D was informed and appointed an inquiry while the Police are investigating the case.
