Body recovered from sea

The Police are investigating the discovery of a body in the sea in the area of Fomm ir-Riħ.

The body was spotted at around 3:30 p.m. (1530hrs), and the Police immediately went to the scene.

With the assistance of a patrol boat from the Armed Forces of Malta, the body was recovered from the sea and taken to Marfa. At this stage, the body cannot be identified as it was found in an advanced state of decomposition.

Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D was informed of the case and appointed several experts to assist him in the inquiry that has been opened. An autopsy is expected to be carried out to establish the cause of death.

Police investigations into the case are still ongoing.
