Body recovered at Ġnejna Bay

The Police are investigating the discovery of a body in Ġnejna Bay.

Today, at around half past five in the afternoon (17:30 hrs), the Police were informed that the body of a person had been sighted in the sea.

Following this information, the Police went to the scene where they found the body, which appears to be that of a woman, but has not yet been identified since it was found in an advanced state of decomposition. Initial investigations indicate that the body had been in the sea for several days.

Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D was informed about the case and appointed several experts to assist him in the inquiry that has been opened, while an autopsy is expected to be carried out on the body in order to establish the cause of death.

Police investigations into the case are still ongoing.
