Arrested in Paceville in connection with drug trafficking

(PR 83/25)

Continuous surveillance by the Police in the heart of the communities, including in the entertainment areas in Paceville, led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man from Gambia after he was allegedly selling drugs.

Last Friday evening, while two constables were on patrol in Triq Santu Wistin, they spotted a man acting suspicious in front of an establishment. When approached, he was seen throwing a packet under a vehicle, resisted arrest, and one of the officers sustained slight injuries.

Sachets of substances suspected to be cocaine and cannabis, allegedly ready to be trafficked, were found in the packet.

The man is being detained at the Police lock-up in Floriana and is expected to be arraigned in Court today, at around 1000hrs, before Magistrate Dr Abigail Critien LL.D
