Arrested in connection with drug trafficking

(PR 537/25 & PR 540/25) 

Update: Following yesterday’s arrest of a 39-year-old man in Qawra, investigations by the Police have continued in recent hours.

As a result of further searches carried out at the suspect’s residence, officers discovered approximately 150 packets of suspected cannabis, allegedly for trafficking. An additional sum of cash was also seized from the property.

 

Earlier: A Police investigation in connection with drug trafficking, resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old man from Ethiopia.

Police carried out a search in a shop in Triq il-Maskli, Qawra where drugs were allegedly being trafficked.

The search yielded just under one and a half kilos of substances suspected to be cannabis. The street value of the drugs amounts to around €15,000. Just over €64,500 in cash were also seized.

Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea LL.D was informed about the case and appointed an inquiry.

The man is being detained under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Court in the coming days.
