(PR 534/25)

Early on Saturday, at around 1:30 a.m. (0130hrs), an argument broke out near a shop in Triq Balbi, Marsa, between two Eritrean men aged 22 and 25 respectively.

During the argument, a sharp-pointed weapon was allegedly used, as a result of which the 22-year-old man and another 32-year-old Eritrean man, who tried to intervene, sustained some injuries.

A medical team was called to the scene and assisted the two men, who were then taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital. Later, the 22-year-old man was certified to have suffered grievous injuries, while the 32-year-old man sustained slight injuries.

The 25-year-old man is being held by the Police to assist in ongoing investigations.

He is expected to be arraigned in Court today, before Magistrate Dr Joseph Gatt LL.D.
