(PR 159/26)
A 37-year-old Maltese man residing in Pembroke was arrested early this morning in connection with an argument that took place inside an entertainment establishment in St Julian’s.
Police officers on duty in Paceville were informed by an employee of an entertainment establishment that an argument had just occurred between two individuals at around 1:00 a.m. (0100hrs).
Officers immediately entered the premises and identified the alleged aggressor. Police intervened and arrested the man, safely confiscating a small sharp and pointed instrument to prevent further injuries to other persons.
At the same time as the arrest was taking place, the other person involved in the argument — a 32-year-old Syrian man residing in Ħaż-Żabbar — was assisted by other officers stationed in the area, who called for medical assistance after it was discovered that he had injuries to his neck.
A medical team arrived on site and shortly afterwards the man was taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was later certified as having suffered serious injuries.
Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D. was informed and appointed an inquiry into the case, while Police investigations are ongoing.
