Appeal on misleading telephone calls
The Police are appealing to the public to be careful of scams being made through misleading phone calls from “local” mobile phone numbers (spoofed).

The caller is introducing himself, pretending to be a police officer, and then posing a number of questions. He then asks for personal details, including an email address so that those receiving the phone call can make an appointment with a police officer.

The Police force is therefore advising the public to ignore these calls and the important one does not give information to the caller. Anyone in doubt can directly check the legitimacy of the call by calling crime stop number 119.

The Police force is requesting the help of the media in order to deliver our appeal to prevent the victims of these scams.
