A 43-year-old man, a resident of Gżira, was injured after falling about five metres while working in a building where renovation work was being carried out.

The accident occurred at around half past eight in the morning (0830hrs), in Old Bakery street, Valletta.

A medical team was called on site to assist, and an ambulance took the man to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment. He was later certified to have sustained grievous injuries.

Investigations by the Police, together with the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, are ongoing.
