Yesterday, at around 5:00 p.m. (1700 hrs), the police were informed that assistance was required at a residence on Triq Ta’ Berrini, Kerċem.
Police officers immediately responded to the scene, and preliminary investigations revealed that a 72-year-old woman from Kerċem fell the height of one storey into a shaft.
Members of the Civil Protection Department, a medical team, and an ambulance were called to the scene. The woman was taken to Gozo General Hospital for treatment, where she was later certified as having sustained serious injuries.
Magistrate Dr Jean Paul Grech LL.D. was informed of the case and opened a Magisterial Inquiry, while police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
